EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION requires a culture of trust, open and transparent communication, and dedicated time and space. Establishing a collaborative culture begins by building trust and a safe environment for trying new things. Common collaborative practices include professional learning communities, lesson study, teacher teams, mentoring, and coaching, and can occur among individuals within a single school, between schools, and even with individuals across conferences and unions.
